At some point in life, we will all experience some form of physical pain. The nature of pain will vary from person to person, with intensity ranging from mild discomfort to excruciating pain, duration varying between episodic and continuous, and pain location being either general or localised to a particular area. While most pain sensations are relatively brief, lasting up to a couple of weeks, some people experience chronic, persistent pain that can last longer than six months.
There are numerous ways that pain can eventuate, such as:
- Cancer
- Emotional pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Hormonal issues like dysmenorrhea
- Musculoskeletal problems such as arthritis, back pain and fibromyalgia
- Neuropathic pain
- Physical injury
- Sciatica
- Unknown or undetected sources
These causes typically stem from imbalances that have become ingrained into a person’s physiology over numerous years. Irrespective of the cause, Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat & Spa can assist with your pain issues.
Sukhavati’s Chronic Pain Program
For a person who is suffering from chronic pain, Panchakarma has a lot to offer. We begin treatment by identifying the root cause of the pain. We then address the cause or remove it if possible so the pain can subside and real healing can begin. Experiencing true respite from chronic pain can happen, but it will require a multidimensional approach that incorporates the mind, body and spirit.
The most effective way to address the root cause of any chronic pain is to eradicate any impurities and build-up of toxins using the intense purification and rejuvenation methods of Panchakarma.
Panchakarma combines herbalised oil massage with tailored diet and cleansing methods to assist in loosening the impurities that are deeply entrenched in the tissues, liquefying them so they become easily absorbed into the circulation and are eventually released. The combined treatments also help to balance the nervous system to eliminate pain.
We see pain as a multi-faceted message. Ayurvedic medicine welcomes and acknowledges pain, even while trying to relieve it. The presence of pain is nature’s way of telling a person ‘stop what you are doing’ or ‘stop using that body part’. It provides us with the opportunity to examine our lives to determine what is creating this discomfort. Looking at it this way, chronic pain can act as the necessary catalyst for positive change. Engaging in the Panchakarma treatment program offers a chance to take a step back and creates an opportunity to heal at the deepest level.
